During a debate on whether to take action in Syria Thursday, in the UK’s House of Commons, MP George Galloway denied that he said Israel supplied al-Qaeda with chemical weapons used to kill scores of Syrian civilians in an attack near Damascus last week.
When challenged on the matter by Conservative MP Matthew Offord, Galloway replied, “I said no such thing.”
Unfortunately for Galloway, a well circulated video of his comments about Israel show his claim in parliament to be false.
Filmed during his weekly show on Iran’s Press TV, the video shows Galloway agreeing that chemical weapons had in fact been used Syria, but claiming that Syrian rebels had been responsible for the attack . He then specified that in his opinion al-Qaeda was the main culprit and that Israel gave the terror organization the chemical weapons.
The United States announced Friday it was planning to release a report that proved the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons against civilians near Damascus last week.
