Eli Groner, Israel’s Minister of Economic Affairs to the U.S., said the transfer of $3.2 billion in annual military aid to Israel was halted by the U.S. government shutdown, Israel’s Globes business daily reported.
“We are not talking about a specific step regarding Israel. There is no budget for most government activities because there is no Budget Act or decision for a continuing resolution for ongoing financing for the coming financial year, and that includes the budget for foreign aid,” Groner told Globes.
Globes said Israel receives all of its military aid from the U.S. government on the first day of the financial year, October 1. Earlier, U.S. State Department deputy spokesperson Marie Harf confirmed that aid to Israel and other allies would not be transferred on time.
