JNS.org – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres met with Czech President Milos Zeman on Monday in Jerusalem. Zeman told his hosts, “I completely understand the need for an independent Jewish and democratic state. There is an amazing resemblance between Czech history and Israel’s history.”
Netanyahu noted the “deep and true friendship” between the Czech Republic and Israel, and between the Czech people and the Jewish people, Israel Hayom reported. Peres told Zeman, “We greatly appreciate your strong stance and decision to oppose the aggressive intentions of the Iranian regime, which poses a greater threat to the entire world.”
