Israel Justice Ministry attorney Yifat Raveh told a Knesset Interior Committee hearing on Monday that many of the families, who lost loved ones at the hands of terrorists being released today as a gesture to the Palestinian Authority, were not notified because their phone numbers had been lost or because of other “technical problems,” Israel’s Channel 2 reported.
Joseph Tzur, a bereaved parent, said only seven of the families had been contacted.
On Sunday night, the names were published of the 26 Palestinian prisoners to be released on Wednesday .
Interior Committee Chair Knesset Member Miri Regev said that the tentative list was known a week ago and claimed it should have been possible to notify families in advance of the release.
Cyril Feinberg, the father of terror victim Ian Feinberg, who was stabbed to death by a masked Hamas assailant said that he had not received an update from the state, but heard from his daughter that Omar Masood, who was involved in the murder of his son, will be released on Wednesday.
