Simon Cowell, music mogul and host of “The X Factor,” and his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman plan to celebrate a Jewish wedding, sources close to the couple told Heat magazine, the UK Daily Mail reported on Monday.
“Simon and Lauren have spoken very openly about marriage and he’s told pals he may even propose by the end of the year,” Heat‘s source said.
The source added that Cowell “agreed they could be blessed by a rabbi and partake in Jewish traditions, including the bedecking ceremony [where the groom identifies the bride in a room just before the wedding]. He’s even said he’ll have some Israeli dancing lessons for the party afterwards.”
Cowell’s paternal grandmother was Jewish and immigrated to the UK from Poland. He has recently pledged support for Jewish causes, most notably by making a very generous donation to the Los Angeles branch of Friends of the IDF last week.
The Daily Mail added that the couple are still reportedly expected to have a Christian wedding ceremony as well near his mother Julie’s home in Sussex, England.
