A four square foot Nazi swastika was spray painted in black across the front wall of the Kingsbridge Center of Israel synagogue, in Bronx, New York, the New York Post reported on Wednesday.
The Post said the “disturbing discovery” was made by the synagogue’s president at 8:30 AM on Monday when he arrived at the building after locking up at 6 PM the night before.
As of Tuesday evening, police were still canvassing the area for surveillance video, but no arrests had been made. Further comment from the shul’s rabbi was not available immediately.
Separately, the Post also reported that the New York Police Department’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating anti-Semitic graffiti scrawled on a Lower East Side apartment door.
Law-enforcement sources told the newspaper that the female victim, 50, lives in the Baruch Houses, on Columbia Street, and found the words “Jewish bitch” written in pencil on her door at around 11 AM on Saturday.
The woman has been targeted by a similar attack in the past, and police told the Post that they believe the hateful messages may be the result of a longstanding dispute with a neighbor, the newspaper said.
