Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted 5 rockets fired by Gaza based Palestinian Arab terrorists toward the coastal city of Ashkelon early Thursday morning, Israeli media reported.
The attacks caused no injures or damage, according to reports.
“Warning sirens wailed in the southern city shortly before 2 a.m. local time, alerting residents to quickly find shelter,” The Times of Israel said.
Earlier this week, more rockets were fired as Israel buried former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at his family ranch near the Gaza border. Israel responded by striking terror sites in Gaza.
The Israel Defense Forces routinely stipulate that they hold terror group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, responsible for all attacks emanating from the territory.
