The remains of a slaughtered wild boar were left on the steps of the Chabad of Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt synagogue, north of Paris, on Saturday, the SPCJ, Service de Protection de la Communauté Juive, said on Facebook.
The SPCJ said Chabad Rabbi Shalom Dovber Amram arrived to the house of worship at 8 a.m. and discovered “on the doorstep pieces of what appeared to be a small boar butchered.”
The rabbi alerted local municipal workers to clean up the remains. He then mentioned the dead beast during a break in the morning prayers, and a former volunteer of SPCJ who overheard, immediately alerted SPCJ headquarters and local police.
The police arrived at the scene at about 11 a.m. They discovered that parts of the animal had been moved but not entirely removed by the city staff. Police have already begun an investigation, beginning with a review of the synagogue and municipal surveillance systems.
A formal complaint was also filed with police after Shabbat.
