Fire Breaks Out on Israeli Navy Ship, Injuring 15

One soldier was moderately injured, while 14 others were lightly harmed as a result of a fire that broke out on the Israeli Navy ship ‘Dvorah’, Israel’s Channel 10 reported on Saturday.
While the IDF is currently investigating the incident, preliminary evidence indicates that a malfunctioning water pump caused the fire, which occurred while the ‘Dvorah’ was conducting maneuvers south of Israel, Channel 10 said.
All the injuries were the result of smoke inhalation, and the affected soldiers were evacuated to the emergency rooms of the Tel Hashomer and Kaplan hospitals.
Friday’s fire capped a difficult week for the Israeli Navy. Another ship, named ‘Wasp’, capsized on Monday while patrolling the waters near Ashkelon. Rescue teams were immediately ordered to the scene and no casualties were reported, Channel 10 said.
The commander of the Israeli Navy, Major General Ram Rothberg, has also launched an investigation into Monday’s incident.
