Addressing senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy, in the Southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Friday said, “The military strength and high deterrence power of our Armed Forces will not allow the enemy to even think of attacking Iran,” semi-official state news agency Fars reported.
Rouhani’s tough talk followed a similarly strident speech on Tuesday fromDeputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri, who “pointed out that Capitalism and global Zionism are major enemies of the Islamic Revolution,” according to Fars.
Jazayeri said, “Ill-wishers are attacking achievements of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation with new tactics everyday.”
In his speech on Friday, Rouhani pointed to military drills conducted by the Iranian Army and IRGC, and said, “These maneuvers not only help the Iranian armed forces to remain well-prepared, but it also showcases their capabilities against enemies.”
He also lauded the efforts by the IRGC Navy to secure the nearly 2,000 kilometers of maritime borders in Southern Iran.
