Hezbollah’s Al-Manar News Launches App in Apple’s iTunes Store

JNS.org – The Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, through its satellite news station, Al-Manar has launched a news app in Apple’s iTunes store, according to a press release on the Al-Manar website.
The free app, called LCG, claims that it is an “application that brings news from all around the world” and is available for download on the iPhone and iPad in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
The U.S. Department of Treasury designated Al-Manar as a “specially designated global terrorist entity television station” and an “arm of the Hezbollah terrorist network” in 2006. As such, the station is banned from being broadcast in the United States as well in France, Spain and Germany.
This is not the first attempt by Al-Manar to launch an app in Apple’s iTunes store.
In July 2012, the terror satellite station launched an app for iTunes and Google’s Play Store only to be subsequently removed by Apple and Google a few days later.
At the time of the removal, a Google official said that the “we remove applications that violate our policies, such as apps that are illegal or that promote hate speech.” Al-Manar blamed the removal on “Israeli incitement against Al-Manar TV.”
Apple did not immediately return a request for comment from JNS.org.
