JNS.org – As a result of the ongoing strike by Israeli Foreign Ministry workers, a shipping container filled with Passover for a planned 1,700-person seder in Katmandu, Nepal remains stuck in India.
Rabbi Chezki and Chani Lifshitz, Chabad-Lubavitch representatives in Katmandu, described days of despair as they continue to wait for the shipment of Passover supplies that left Israel two months ago, but is stuck in India due to frozen paperwork.
“There are $40,000 worth of supplies in there and they will not make it in time for the holiday,” Rabbi Lifshitz said.
In light of the container’s unlikely arrival, Lifshitz and his wife created a Facebook page titled “Save the Passover seder in Nepal.”
“Around 800 Israelis are expected to arrive in the upcoming two weeks in Nepal. Every traveler coming to us for the Passover seder is to bring a package of matzah and a bottle of wine. We will be happy to receive help via www.nepal10.org or by phone,” said Rabbi Lifshitz, according to Israel Hayom.
