Israeli Start-Up Says it Can Charge Your Phone in 30 Seconds (VIDEO)

An Israeli start-up on Monday unveiled a prototype charger that can take a smartphone’s battery life from nearly zero to 100 percent in 30 seconds, The Wall Street Journal reported.
StoreDot Ltd., born out of the nanotechnology department at Tel Aviv University, made the prototype charger for Samsung’s Galaxy 4 but said it plans to make chargers for other smartphones as well. The company unveiled the device at Microsoft’s Think Next conference in Tel Aviv.
StoreDot develops biological semiconductors, made from naturally occurring organic compounds called peptides, that can be used to speed charging times.
The prototype charger is currently the size of a laptop charger but StoreDot said it is working on reducing its size, according to The Wall Street Journal. Its estimated cost will be twice that of an average phone charger, which is up to $30. StoreDot said commercial production is expected to begin in late 2016.
