Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett on Thursday said talks that emerged this week to unify Palestinian Arab parties Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad would create “the world’s largest terrorist entity.”
On Facebook, Bennett said, “The signing of the merger between Fatah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas introduces to the Middle East a whole new political era.”
“The Palestinian Authority has just become the largest terrorist entity in the world, twenty minutes from Tel Aviv.”
“These three terrorist groups have killed more than 1,000 Israelis in the streets of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa since 2000.”
Just as the United States does not talk with Hamas, Islamic Jihad and al-Qaeda. Also Israel needs to be clear: We do not talk with killers.”
On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cautioned PA leader and Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on partnering with Hamas, saying that Abbas “needs to choose between peace with Israel and an agreement with Hamas, a murderous terrorist organization that calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and which both the United States and the European Union define as a terrorist organization.”
“Whoever chooses Hamas does not want peace,” Netanyahu added.
