JNS.org – Plagued by injuries for the last few years of his National Basketball Association career, New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire says he may decide to play in Israel after his contract for the Knicks expires following the 2014-15 season.
“I feel in a year my game will still let me play in the NBA, but it depends on how I personally feel. I might decide to play in Israel,” Stoudemire said, according to the New York Daily News.
The 31-year-old Stoudemire, a six-time NBA All-Star, famously visited Israel in the summer of 2010 to explore his “Hebrew roots.” Last summer, he was part of a group that purchased the Israeli professional basketball team Hapoel Jerusalem.
After a strong first season with the Knicks in which he averaged better than 25 points per game, Stoudemire has since been limited by injuries, appearing in 131 of a possible 230 games during the last three seasons and starting only 68 games over that span.
