Jan. 15, 2014: Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hammad speaks to graduates of the organization's youth camps in Gaza, calling on them to annihilate Israel and take their struggle across the world.
The UK’s Daily Mail on Tuesday published a photo essay by AFP from a Hamas-run military summer camp for thousands of children in the desert of Southern Gaza.
The Daily Mail wrote: “It is not for the faint hearted – a Hamas-run summer camp for school kids to take part in grueling physical activities, military exercises and political demonstrations.
“Photos from the camps show children climbing obstacles above open flames,” the newspaper said, in addition to “running in formation and military drills.”
At the conclusion of a similar program, the ‘Futuwwa’ martyrdom camp, in Gaza City, in January, coinciding with the birthday of Mohammed, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh told students: “The best way for us to celebrate the Prophet’s birthday is to walk in his footsteps and provide the future generations a jihadi education.”
“We shall walk in his footsteps in educating the future generation to love death for the sake of Allah as much as our enemies love life,” he told the 13,000 Gazan teens graduating from the camps.
“This is the generation that will be qualified for liberation, victory, return, and independence. Woe betide you, oh sons of Zion, for weakness knows no entry route to the hearts of this generation.”
“This is the generation of stone, the generation of the missile, the generation of tunnels, and the generation of martyrdom operations,” the leader of Hamas told children in Gaza.
