Mel Gibson Arresting Officer Hits Back After Gary Oldman Defends Actor’s Anti-Semitic Rant

The police officer who arrested Mel Gibson for his 2006 DUI arrest, which included an infamous anti-Semitic tirade, reacted on Tuesday to actor Gary Oldman’s recent defense of Gibson, TMZ reported.
In Oldman’s remarks, he questioned whether the officer himself was in fact guilty of racism.
“I don’t know about Mel. He got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things,” the actor said. “We’re all f*****g hypocrites. That’s what I think about it. The policeman who arrested him has never used the word n****r or that f*****g Jew? I’m being brutally honest here. It’s the hypocrisy of it that drives me crazy.”
L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy James Mee responded, “I’m Jewish and why would I say that to discredit my own religious makeup? The N-word is a scary word. I would never even dream of using it. It sickens me that anyone would use that word. Jews have been persecuted and put down over the years. Why would I, as a Jew, do that to other races?”
In Gibson’s 2006 rant, he said, “F*****g Jews… the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. Are you a Jew?” Gibson subsequently apologized for the offensive remarks.
Of Oldman, Mee told TMZ, “I feel sorry for people that need to say things about other people in order to justify themselves.” He also said he does not think Gibson has been rehabilitated.
