Poll: Obama Approval Among Jews Drops to 55 Percent, Down 22 Points Since Start of Presidency

A new poll released by Gallup on Friday shows President Obama’s approval rating among Jews has dropped to 55 percent, 7 points lower than his presidency’s average and 22 percent lower than at the start of his presidency. Disapproval of Obama among Jews stood at 41 percent.
The poll, based on aggregated data from more than 88,000 Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted in the first six months of 2014, shows Muslims to be Obama’s greatest supporters with 72 percent and Mormons to be his greatest detractors with just 18 percent.
“The relative rank order of the religious groups on job approval has been consistent throughout Obama’s presidency,” Gallup said. “In fact, the current rank order, with Muslims most approving and Mormons least, exactly matches the order seen over the more than five years he has been in office since January 2009.”
“Moreover, current job approval among each religious subgroup is between five and seven percentage points lower than the full 2009-2014 average for each. Obama’s current 43 percent overall job approval average is five points lower than his 48 percent average so far in his presidency,” Gallup explained.
In the 2012 presidential election Obama won 70 percent of the Jewish vote compared to 74 percent in 2008.
The latest numbers were released a day after Obama offered to help broker a ceasefire between Israel and terror group Hamas to end the Jewish state’s ongoing campaign to stem rocket fire from Gaza.
