Two cars owned by a Jewish couple in suburb Pearl River, New York, a 20-minute drive from midtown Manhattan, were covered in swastikas and vulgarities, and their tires were slashed on Sunday morning.
The couple posted the photos to Facebook where dozens of friends and neighbors expressed their surprise and horror at the hate crime in their small town of 15,000 people, many of whom are commuters to New York City.
“Just want to show everyone what we woke to in the town of friendly people [of] Pearl River, and they slashed all Steve’s tires too!” wrote the victims.
The graffiti included “White Power,” multiple swastikas and vulgarities scribbled on the pavement in front of their house.
One neighbor wrote: “That is truly horrible! Who in our community would commit such a vile act? I am angry and disgusted. And sorry that you have to deal with this.”
Another said: “Sick, disgusting, awful vile…. Can’t stand the rise in anti-Semitism. I’m so sorry for you both. We love you.”
