JNS.org – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has resumed air strikes over the Gaza Strip in response to a renewal of rocket fire by the terror organization Hamas into southern Israel.
Hamas terrorists began firing at Israel again Friday morning after the end of the agreed-upon three-day truce at 8 a.m., during which negotiations have been taking place in Cairo, Egypt.
Since the cease-fire has expired, more than 45 rockets and mortars have been fired at Israel from Gaza, and the Israeli Air Force has hit more than 40 targets in Gaza in response, reported Haaretz.
Two Israelis were injured from rocket shrapnel near the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, and a rocket hit a house in Sderot, reported Yedioth Achronoth.
“We will continue to strike Hamas, its infrastructure, its operatives, and restore security for the State of Israel,” said IDF Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Lerner in a statement.
