Anti-Israel hackers briefly succeeded in breaking into and defacing the personal Facebook page of IDF Arabic-language spokesman, Maj. Avichay Adraee, in recent days, according to a report on Israel’s Channel 2 News.
Among the photo-shopped images the digital infiltrators created is one that shows him as a vampire with a bloodstained mouth. Another from his wedding is doctored to include a nationalistic Palestinian emblem overlay, and in yet another he is made to appear to be reeling from a harsh slap by a keffiyeh-clad man.
Adraee, who represents the IDF as a regular guest on Arabic networks throughout the Mideast, and is highly active on social media platforms, is also a regular target of anti-Israel groups who defame and mock him on social media.
His photo has also been used by groups to promote boycotting Israeli goods, with one image showing Adraee in civilian garb, drinking an Israeli beverage, with the caption, “there’s a little Avichay inside every one.”
In 2012, anti-Israel groups published his photo with the caption, “Gaza – share this! (He’s) Wanted by Izzadin al-Qassam.”
“Be careful,” a recent distributed note warned about Adraee, cautioning Arabs “not to be exploited by the enemy, Avichay Adraee.”
