Three Israeli soldiers were injured Wednesday night, when a Palestinian truck driver slammed into them as they waited at a bus stop south of Bethlehem, according to rescue services.
Investigators, according to initial Army radio reports, are saying it was a terror attack, and not an accident.
The vehicle that hit the trio, near Al-Arub in the southern Gush Etzion bloc of communities, fled.
“Total of 3 people injured in terrorist attack in Gush Etzion area, El Arub. 1 seriously, 2 moderately. The injured being taken to hospital,” Israel Police Spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said in a tweet.
The IDF has begun flooding the vicinity with troops in an effort to find the perpetrators.
Initial unconfirmed reports said a large white van was stopped at a nearby spot checkpoint, shortly thereafter, and the driver detained.
It is unclear, however, if the driver and vehicle were involved in the attack.
Earlier in the day, an Arab Hamas member in Jerusalem killed one person and wounded some 14 others, several critically, when he slammed his van into pedestrians and vehicles at two points along the capital’s light rail line.
The fatality, Cap. Jidan Assad, 38, a Border Police officer from the Druze village of Beit Jaan, and the wounded were crossing the street when they were hit by the speeding vehicle, according to police.
