The Sydney Morning Herald – Man Haron Monis told associates he kept regular contact with ASIO about his claims that he defected from Iran with smuggled intelligence secrets and had inside knowledge of state-sponsored terrorist strikes that killed more than 130 people.
Fairfax Media has obtained correspondence from Monis, or Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi, as he called himself when he wrote the letters – more than a decade before his 16-hour siege in Sydney’s Martin Place ended with the shooting deaths of himself and two of his 18 hostages.
