USA Today – France announced sweeping new counterterrorism measures Wednesday, including $490 million to be spent in response to the deadly Paris terror attacks earlier this month.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said security forces will get better weapons and protection, and 2,600 new counterterrorism officers will be hired over the next three years, 1,100 of them specifically for intelligence services. France will also bolster its intelligence apparatus, introducing a measure to make it easier to tap phones, he added.
