Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) slammed MSNBC for its anti-Israel bias and also the mainstream media’s coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during a speech in Florida.
Speaking about a “troubling” segment she watched on MSNBC the night before the event, she said, “Clearly [MSNBC was] highlighting what Israel had done to Gaza and the plight of Palestinians.”
“My first thought was where is the balance, where is the spotlight on what Jewish children in Israel go through from being victims of rocket attacks,” she continued. “The media’s coverage — and it’s not just MSNBC — I’ve seen it on CNN and even in the broadcast media as well. We have work to do.”
The DNC chair said we must educate people and make them understand that there is a “simple solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: “It’s called recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish and Democratic state.”
The Florida congresswoman made the comments at a breakfast event held in January at a south Florida branch of the Jewish Federation, according to The Daily Caller.
