David Blatt, the head coach of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers is among those luminaries who publicly supported Israel’s right to safety and security, specifically during Operation Protective Edge. Blatt, who earlier in his career led Maccabi Tel Aviv to a European club basketball championship, called Israel home for years and holds dual US and Israeli citizenship, “I’m really sorry about what’s happening in Gaza,” he told the Israeli business publication Globes, “but there’s no doubt that we had to act there, so that Israel will have quiet there once and for all, and we can live in peace.”
