After more than twenty years as Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom, Jonathan Sacks, who was awarded the title of Baron in 2009, has now established himself as one of the leading Jewish philosophical and religious thinker in the world today. Currently holding professorships at NYU and Yeshiva University in New York and Kings College, London, Sacks is the author of a number of best-selling books, among them To Heal a Fractured World and The Home We Build Together. In recent years, Sacks has weighed in on a number of major intellectual controversies, notably countering the militant atheism of leading scientist Richard Dawkins. Above all, he is committed to a plurality of views on the major questions facing humanity – as he told Salon magazine last year, “Fundamentalism is the attempt to impose a single truth on the plural world.”
