Chabad global ambassador and vice-chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch
Rabbi Moshe Kotlarksy, Chabad’s most visible global ambassador, certainly keeps busy. He is vice-chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, Chabad’s central educational organization serving the thousands of Lubavitch “envoys” who reach out to mostly unaffiliated Jews around the globe. As a top fund-raiser, he oversees scores of religious and educational institutions in some 70 countries. In addition, since 1984, he has arranged the Kinus Hashluchim, the international conference of Chabad emissaries – more than 4,000 attend each year – that occurs each fall in New York. Notably, Kotlarsky cultivated Chabad’s relationship with many global philanthropists, including the late Sammy Rohr, and his son, George Rohr, the investor who funded the movement’s expansion on college campuses, in Eastern Europe and elsewhere.
