Famed Israeli Novelist and Netanyahu Critic Slams US Position on Iran as ‘Criminal Naiveté’

Famed Israeli novelist David Grossman accused the United States of “criminal naiveté” with respect to its negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. The comments were first reported in the Italian periodical La Repubblica over the weekend.
Though the left-wing Grossman is well known for his sympathetic views towards the Palestinians, he holds no sympathies towards Iran’s nuclear program.
The author voiced support for the content of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent speech before a joint session of Congress, even though the Israeli author is a frequent critic of the Prime Minister.
“Iran threatens the entire world, this time Netanyahu is right,” Grossman told La Repubblica.
“Netanyahu is right when he says that according to the emerging deal there is nothing to prevent the Iranians from developing a nuclear bomb once the deal expires in another 10 years, and on this matter there is no difference in Israel between Left and Right.”
Despite his support for Netanyahu’s position on the Iranian nuclear program, Grossman still hopes that Netanyahu loses in the upcoming March 17th Israeli election. Grossman also said he is worried that the Netanyahu speech may have damaged Israel’s relations with the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party.
