French experts reexamining the circumstances surrounding the death of arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat have confirmed an earlier conclusion that the Palestinian leader died of natural causes, the AFP reported on Monday.
French prosecutor Catherine Denis told the AFP that claims that Arafat was poisoned are not correct.
Denis said that the finding: “disproves the hypothesis of an acute ingestion of polonium-210 in the days preceeding (sic) the appearance of symptoms.”
Arafat died on November 11, 2004 in France. In 2012, his widow Suha Arafat filed a complaint in France arguing that her husband was poisoned.
Posthumous testing of Arafat’s belongings showed “abnormal” levels of polonium-210 in addition to lead-210. But French prosecutor Denis told the AFP that according to the recent findings these toxins were environmental in nature, and not the result of acute ingestion.
