Contemporary Jewish Artists Gather for Global Networking Retreat

JNS.org – A global network of young contemporary Jewish artists held its annual retreat, aiming to provide the artists with greater exposure and an international networking platform.
The Asylum Arts network, launched with the support of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, held the Asylum Arts International Jewish Artist Retreat from May 3-6 in Garrison, N.Y. The 80 attendees included artists, choreographers, playwrights, musicians, composers, photographers, filmmakers, screenwriters, poets, and writers.
“We believe that empowering Jewish artists from around the globe to advance their careers helps to broaden Jewish culture and the collective Jewish narrative,” Rebecca Guber, director of Asylum Arts, said in a statement.
Asylum Arts said it has worked with more than 250 Jewish artists worldwide.
“I believe young people hold the key to building a vibrant global Jewish future, and we must invest in their passion and potential to do so,” said Lynn Schusterman, chair of the Schusterman Family Foundation.
