Harrowing footage has emerged of a Palestinian car-ramming attack which injured four youths at Israel’s Gush Etzion junction on Thursday.
The video, published by Israel’s Channel 2 News, shows one victim as he is wounded in the attack, and another in pursuit of the driver.
The assailant, 22-year-old Muhammad Arfaiyah from Hebron, was arrested shortly after the incident and admitted to deliberately targeting the youths. Arfaiyah cited nationalistic motives as his reason for the attack.
In the footage, which was picked up by cameras in the settlement of Alon Shvut, southwest of Jerusalem, one of the victims is shown being flung to the side of the road from the car’s impact.
Another of the teenage victims, Binyamin Fraenkel, is seen chasing after Arfaiyah, who attempts to drive away. Fraenkel soon gives up the chase and returns to tend to his friend, who is lying wounded on the road.
The incident was not Arfaiyah’s first run in with Israeli law enforcement officials. He was released from police custody one year ago after being convicted for stone-throwing and carrying a knife, according to Channel 2.
