A man claiming to be a rabbi filed a $2 million lawsuit against rapper Ice Cube accusing him of assault and battery fueled by antisemitism, gossip site TMZ reported on Wednesday.
The complainant, named P. Taras, who says he is rabbinicaly ordained, told TMZ he bumped into Ice Cube on Sunday outside an elevator at the MGM casino in Detroit. He told the rapper, “hey, watch out where you’re going,” International Business Times reported.
The entertainer responded by having his entourage drag the man to the floor and beat him, according to the victim.
Taras said the assailants cursed him with several antisemitic slurs, which he believes were inspired by the fact that he was wearing a Jewish skullcap, also called a yarmulke.
A representative for Ice Cube denied the claims, saying, “Not only are these accusations a lie, he doesn’t even know who this guy is.”
