Veteran British Member of Parliament Dennis Skinner schooled a colleague at the House of Commons on Thursday on the correct pronunciation of “chutzpah,” a Yiddish word that means shameless audacity.
The Leader of the House, Conservative MP Chris Grayling had used the term with a soft ‘ch’ while addressing Parliament on the subject of unions. Skinner, the Labour Party MP for Bolsover, was quick to issue his correction, saying, “it’s not ch-utzpah… It’s h-outzpah!”
The gathered parliamentarians responded with raucous laughter.
