Fourteen members of Forsane Alizza, a banned French Islamist group, went on trial on Monday facing terrorism charges after a list containing Jewish targets was found in files belonging to its leader, Mohammad Achamlane.
The searches also turned up an English-language manual on how to build a nuclear bomb, according to the British Telegraph.
The targets on the list included stores like the Hyper Cacher supermarket chain. The stores made international headlines earlier this year when four Jews were killed at a branch in Paris by an Islamist gunman as they shopped for Shabbat.
Forsane Alizza was formed in 2010 with the stated goal of ending prejudice and hatred against Muslims.
However, the French government banned the group in March 2012 after jihadist propaganda appeared on its website. Searches carried out following the arrest of Achamlane and his associates also unearthed a stash of weapons along with the list of Jewish targets.
The list was found by investigators on Achamlane’s hard drive, under the title “target.txt.” It contained the names of ten Jewish stores, five of which belonged to the Hyper Cacher chain.
