JNS.org – Just weeks before the final deadline on June 30 to agree on a nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 nations, the Iranian parliament has voted to ban international access to its military sites, documents, and scientists. If the vote is ratified, nuclear sites would still be open to international inspections.
Nearly 200 of 213 Iranian lawmakers voted for the bill on Sunday. The same bill demands that all sanctions on Iran would be lifted as part of any agreement with the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany. But the bill must still be ratified by the Guardian Council, a constitutional watchdog, in order to become law.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency, within the framework of the safeguard agreement, is allowed to carry out conventional inspections of nuclear sites,” the bill states, adding that “access to military, security, and sensitive non-nuclear sites, as well as documents and scientists, is forbidden,” The Associated Press reported.
