A cousin of U.S. first lady Michelle Obama has been nominated to become the first “black chief rabbi” of the 21st century, according to JTA.
Rabbi Capers Funnye of Chicago will serve as the “titular head of a worldwide community of Black Jews,” according to a statement from the International Israelite Board of Rabbis.
