Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned that the current situation in the Middle East was leading to the “normalization” of Israel’s relations with regional Arab states, pan-Arab news channel Al Mayadeen reported on Tuesday.
Addressing the anti-Israel International Union of Resistance Scholars conference in Beirut, Nasrallah claimed that “the Zionist entity is seeking to benefit from what is going on in this region by moving towards a phase of normalization with [Arab] countries.”
“Right now, there are some Arab countries that have taken Israel out of the circle of threats. This is something very dangerous,” the arch-terrorist warned further. “Some Arab countries and some senior Arab officials have recently been talking with Israel and even negotiating with it. This may have disastrous results and dire consequences.”
Nasrallah, whose Hezbollah movement has sent thousands of troops to fight on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad in neighboring Syria, called for “all efforts to end the wars [in the region],” but as a means to limit warming Arab ties with Israel.
He also noted that ally Iran’s presence in the region could only fade if an Arab country stepped up to the fore and took up the cause of “liberating Palestine.”
Nasrallah claimed that the greatest possible regional danger would be if minorities in the Middle East started to view Israel as their protector.
He ended by expressing hope that “Israel, the cancerous tumor, will be wiped out and Jerusalem will return to its owners.”
