A young Israeli woman recounted her harrowing escape from a burning car after it was hit in a Molotov cocktail attack in northern Jerusalem on Monday, Israel’s Channel 2 reported.
“We heard a very large explosion, and the car filled up with fire. My husband shouted to me to get out quickly. I opened the door, and tried to get out, but I had my seat belt on, so it took me a few seconds,” said Inbar Azrak, 27.
“I rolled out of the car onto the road and my husband came and put out the flames on my skirt which was still on fire,” said Azrak.
“We were lying there in the road, calling for help, when some incredible people came from nearby to help us. We realized immediately that we’d been hit by a Molotov cocktail, it was very frightening,” she said.
Azrak and her husband were rushed to a local hospital shortly after the assault.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Azrak at the hospital on Tuesday and clarified his zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
“Terror is terror, no matter where it comes from, and we condemn it and fight against it with the same strength,” Netanyahu said.
“A few days ago the international community joined me in condemning terrorism against Arabs and I hope they will join also against the terror directed at Jews, but I’m still waiting,” he said.
