An undercover air marshal tied up an agitated customer on board a Newark-bound flight from Tel Aviv, the U.K. Daily Mail reported on Thursday.
The United airlines carrier took off from Ben-Gurion International Airport around noon on Wednesday, but during the 11-hour flight to New Jersey the passenger apparently began to behave aggressively toward cabin crew members.
While the captain aboard flight UAL85 decided not to land the plane, the plain clothes air marshal helped fasten the man to his seat. Upon landing, four police helped remove the rowdy man, while the rest of the passengers departed as usual.
The airline told the Daily Mail that the “flight arrived on schedule following a situation that occurred when a flight attendant attempted to help calm an agitated customer. The flight attendant was not injured. Though law enforcement officials met the aircraft as a precaution, customers and crew members exited and departed normally.”
