The executive director of France’s leading Jewish organization, the Conseil Representatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF), does not see a future for Jews in France, nrg reported on Sunday.
Robert Ejnes told the Israeli news site, “This was a very worrisome year to be the chairman of CRIF. We are in a very unique and difficult situation, and we are just now realizing it.”
He said that while he welcomed the fact that world leaders marched in Paris after the Charlie Hebdo attacks, they did not act similarly when the Jewish school, Otzar HaTorah, was attacked in Toulouse in 2012 — when four people were killed — or when Ilan Halimi, a young Jewish boy, was kidnapped and murdered in 2006.
“In the last few years, the Jewish community has felt it has been removed from the French family picture, and not part of it, as it was in the past.” He said that there has been some improvement since the beginning of 2015, “But we still have a long way to go.”
