New York Post: Pope Francis May Visit Jewish Deli During Big Apple Trip

Pope Francis may visit an iconic Jewish delicatessen during his upcoming trip to New York, the New York Post’s gossip pages reported on Monday.
The Pope’s much-anticipated stint in the Big Apple begins on Thursday, after a meeting with President Obama and an address to Congress in Washington.
According to the tabloid report, the pontiff’s trip to the city’s famed 2nd Ave Deli on 75th Street and First Avenue would take place on Friday after a mass in Madison Square Garden.
The paper was apparently contacted by a representative of the deli, who said the restaurant had received a “communication from the State Department” regarding a possible papal patronage.
“It’s Yom Kippur. Jewish High Holy Day. Jewish New Year. Our holiest period. This pope believes in protecting all religions,” quipped the caller.
