An Israeli Border Policeman was lightly wounded by a female terrorist in Jerusalem on Monday afternoon.
The terrorist, 18, was a schoolgirl, who approached Border Police with her book pack. Though she managed to stab the policeman in his upper body, he responded quickly, shooting and critically wounding her. She was treated at the scene by Magen David Adom paramedics, before being evacuated to the hospital.
Another suspect, a male who may have been acting with the girl, was neutralized and interrogated.
The attack took place near the Ammunition Hill light rail stop, close to Jerusalem Police headquarters in the northern neighborhood of French Hill, the location of a different attack last week.
According to Israel’s Channel 2, the reason there is a palpable increase in the number of female terrorists is that Palestinian social media sites are encouraging their participation. Terrorists are also being urged to aim for ultra-Orthodox Jews and Israelis in uniform.
This was today’s second attack in the capital. The first was a failed attempt to stab a police officer near the Lions’ Gate in the Old City. The terrorist was neutralized before managing to carry out his attack.
