An Egyptian television host and journalist denounced the recent wave of Palestinian stabbing attacking in a broadcast aired Sunday in Egypt.
Ibrahim Issa expressed solidarity with Palestinians but said their terrorist act of knifing people is “a repetition of the mistakes of the past.” He spoke out against the stabbing attacks on the Egyptian TV channel Kahera Wal-Nas. A video of his broadcast was later posted on YouTube and translated by The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
“What’s the story with all the knives?!” Issa said on air. “How can you knife a person walking down the street and say: ‘This is resistance’? The Palestinian cause is in the hearts of each and every one of us but we should learn from our past mistakes.”
Issa said violent behavior has not worked for Palestinians in past intifadas; it has only led them into the hands of collaborators, traitors or those involved in the Islamic movement, which, said Issa, has “nothing to do with patriotism.” He called on Palestinians to be “mature enough” to realize their violent actions are not conducive to the “Palestinian cause.”
“If we do not recognize the mistakes that we committed or supported, it means that we do not learn from our mistakes,” he said.
