Border Police officers were able to foil a potential terrorist attack in Jerusalem, after they found a knife hidden in a sock (pictured) under the passenger seat of a minibus. Photo: Israel Police.
Israeli Border Police foiled a terrorist attack in Jerusalem on Wednesday, after searching a minibus on its way to west Jerusalem from the Shuafat refugee camp in the eastern part of the city, and finding a knife hidden inside a sock under a seat, Israeli Channel 10 News reported.
The officers had searched the vehicle with the assistance of a police dog.
The knife appeared to belong to a 24-year-old passenger carrying a baby. Officers arrested the suspect, and turned the baby over to the custody of his family.
Sharon Motahedeh, a Border Police commander, praised his officers’ actions, saying that they were, “working with dedication for the sake of the security of the residents of Jerusalem, and through their professional and unrelenting actions have thwarted a possible attack.”
