An Israeli was moderately wounded in a rock-throwing and stabbing attack Sunday morning in Gush Etzion, the Hebrew media reported shortly after the incident.

According to Israeli news website nrg, initial findings revealed that the man, 58, was driving on the road near the settlement of Metzad at around 10 a.m., when his car was pelted with rocks.

As his windshield was smashed and he had been hit in the head by a rock, the driver stopped and exited the car. Due to poor cell-phone reception in the area, he was unable to call for help.

At this point, the man was stabbed in the chest by one or two Palestinians — dressed as yeshiva students — who had taken part in the rock-throwing.

In spite of his injuries, the man managed to shoot at the terrorists, both of whom fled in the direction of the nearby village of Si’ir. It is not clear whether he managed to hit one of them – and the IDF is investigating if a Palestinian admitted to a Hebron hospital shortly after that for a gun-shot wound is, in fact, one of the terrorists.

After being treated on the scene by Magen David Adom paramedics, the man was evacuated to the Hadassah Medical Center/Ein Karem in Jerusalem, where he is reportedly in stable condition.

A few hours later, a female terrorist tried to stab a policeman at the Tzalbanit checkpoint in Hebron, near the Cave of the Patriachs. She was shot — and seriously wounded – by troops at the checkpoint before managing to stab any of them.

Around the same time Sunday afternoon, a man boarded a bus near Kibbutz Gesher in northern Israel, shouting that he wanted to become a “shahid” (martyr). Alerted to the incident, Tiberias police officers intercepted the bus and arrested the man, who had a knife, a kippah and an Israeli ID card in his possession. An investigation is under way to determine if the card belongs to him or was stolen.
