A new Israeli app enables users to remotely delete unwanted photos or messages, Israeli business news site Globes reported on Saturday.

SessMe promises to take the worry out of messaging, since it virtually ensures that all content sent over one’s phone will not be seen by the wrong pair of eyes.

While appearing at first glance to operate like most messaging apps — with individual and group chats — SessMe has the added option to block screen captures and limit the forwarding of messages.

Much like the app Snapchat, SessMe has a feature which allows users to limit image-sharing, and displays photos on the recipient’s screen for only a short time.

But SessMe has gone beyond Snapchat and developed an additional safeguard against screenshots. Messages containing sensitive photos can be sent with a “mask” that replaces the actual image if a user tries to take a screenshot.

Users can also designate a chat as private or public, and can protect specific chats, to prevent other users from seeing the messages. And if a user has sent a message, picture or video that he later regrets, he has the ability to erase it not only from the initial recipient device, but also from all devices to which it was forwarded.

The only downside to the app, according to Globes, is that “it must be used by everyone the user interacts with, as it cannot protect content sent from other apps.”

SessMe was developed by Israeli startup YouMe, and is available for free download on Android and iPhone’s AppStore.
