JNS.org – At a time when Israel desperately needs some “serenity now” but hasn’t yet found it, comedy and television icon Jerry Seinfeld is doing his part for the Jewish state.
Seinfeld performed last week at the Los Angeles Red Star Ball of American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) — the U.S.-based support arm of Israel’s national ambulance, blood-services, and disaster-relief organization.
According to AFMDA, the funds raised for Magen David Adom on Oct. 22 surpassed the all-time record of $6 million that was raised at the same event last year. Magen David Adom has been particularly active in recent weeks, providing emergency medical care on the scene of numerous attacks during the current wave of terrorism in Israel.
“It’s always an honor to support Magen David Adom,” Seinfeld said. “They are the most impressive organization and mean so much to the survival of the Israeli people.”
MDA’s Los Angeles event honored Gila and Adam Milstein with the Humanitarian of the Year Award, Ruth Flinkman-Marandy and Ben Marandy with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Barak Raviv with the Next Generation Award.
