Jonathan Pollard Spotted in New York City Sporting Monitoring Bracelet

Jonathan Pollard, released from prison after 30 years for committing espionage on behalf of Israel, was spotted wearing a monitoring bracelet as he left the Manhattan federal courthouse on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.
Pollard, 61, was photographed with the black GPS device on his left wrist just after he left court to fill out paperwork connected with his parole. He was accompanied by his wife, Esther.
Pollard was fitted for the bracelet last week, after being released from federal prison in Butner, NC. Shortly afterwards, he traveled to New York City to check in at the probation offices. He was granted parole from a life sentence imposed in 1987, but under its conditions he must wear the electronic monitoring bracelet, the New York Post reported.
The purpose of the bracelet, which Pollard was originally ordered to wear on his ankle, is to alert authorities if he violates his parole in any way, or commits any crimes. The terms of Pollard’s parole also prohibit him from leaving his house between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., according to the New York Post.
The former civilian analyst for US Naval Intelligence was arrested and convicted for relaying classified US government information to Israel. His highly reported case and long sentence has been a bone of contention between the US and Israel for three decades.
