JNS.org – The Czech Parliament passed a resolution urging the government to reject the European Union’s decision to label Israeli products originating in the West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.
According to Czech media reports, the resolution against the EU measure passed by an overwhelming majority.
Czech Culture Minister Daniel Herman said during the debate that it is “absolutely necessary to reject the efforts to discriminate against the only democracy in the Middle East.”
The Czech Republic is one of Israel’s strongest allies in Europe. The Jewish state’s ambassador to the country, Gary Koren, welcomed the Czech lawmakers’ resolution.
